DAFT3 Brand Transformation

Repositioning an Air Force innovation organization through strategic branding, executive communications, and digital experience.

DAFT3 was driving some of the Department of the Air Force's most innovative technology transition efforts, but its visual identity and communications no longer reflected the caliber of its mission.

The organization needed a cohesive brand that could communicate complex initiatives with greater clarity, improve the user experience across digital platforms, and create a more professional presence for leadership, stakeholders, and industry partners.

Rather than treating the project as a simple redesign, the goal was to build a communication system that could scale across every audience touchpoint.

The Strategy

A successful rebrand required  more than a new visual identity.

It required establishing a consistent communication framework that would strengthen recognition, improve usability, and support executive storytelling.

The strategy focused on:

  • Developing a modern visual identity aligned with DAFT3's mission

  • Creating consistent branding across digital and print communications

  • Improving website navigation and mobile usability

  • Strengthening storytelling through clearer content organization

  • Building reusable templates for presentations, marketing materials, and events

  • Designing a system that could grow with the organization

Throughout the project, I collaborated closely with leadership, technical subject matter experts, and our data engineer to ensure the new brand balanced usability, accessibility, and mission objectives.

Brand Identity

A modernized visual identity established a cohesive look and feel across every communication channel, helping DAFT3 stand apart while remaining appropriate for a Department of the Air Force organization.

Website Experience

The DAFT3 website was redesigned from the ground up to improve navigation, strengthen storytelling, and create a more engaging experience across desktop and mobile devices. The result was a platform that better reflected the organization's innovation mission while making information easier to find and understand.

Executive & Marketing Communications

The new brand extended beyond the website into presentations, marketing materials, publications, and executive communications, creating a consistent experience across every stakeholder interaction.

Event Branding

The visual system supported high-profile events, including the DAFT3 Annual Summit attended by more than 150 government, military, and industry leaders. From signage and presentation templates to printed collateral, every touchpoint reinforced a unified brand experience.

The Solution

The rebrand created a stronger foundation for communicating DAFT3's mission while improving consistency across digital and in-person experiences.

Impact

  • 77% of website users engaged with the site

  • Visitors reached the website from more than 40 countries

  • Improved navigation and mobile usability

  • Consistent branding across digital, print, and event materials

  • Stronger executive communications and storytelling

  • Scalable brand system for future initiatives
